Today was the 100th Day of Kindergarten! We celebrated today by counting out 100 fruit loops and creating fruit loop necklaces. The students loved making and wearing their creations.
Hello kindergarten families! I am SO sorry it has been a month since the last post! Life in kindergarten has been crazy lately. We have been doing some exciting things that I will give you a quick update on! We have learned how to be a good friend at school by reading the story, Chrysanthemum, and all the students agreed to not wrinkle our friend's hearts and be nice. Literacy: - Word Families (-at, -an, -it, -ot) - Continuing practice with our letter names and sounds - Working on blending sounds to read words and sentences - This week we are starting compare and contrasting The Three Little Pigs stories - Learning how to manage ourselves in literacy centers (listening station, read to self, word work, games) - Learned about non-fiction vs. fiction using The Mitten. Math: - Learning to solve addition problems to 5 - Practicing writing and solving story problems - Learning math strategies to solve equations (counting fingers, ten frames, tally marks, drawing a picture, mental math) - Counting to 100 - Writing numbers - Learning the names and attributes of 3D shapes Last Friday was Valentine's Day. We were able to celebrate by making Valentine's bags, passing out and opening our Valentine's, and working on some Valentine's activities.
